Edith June Ohrt, 82, of Matteson, passed away Monday, November 28th from injuries she sustained in July. She was born June 3, 1940 in Blackberry City, West Virginia to the late Arthur and Iccel Hardy. Loving mother of Jennifer Lynn (late Donnie) Frassrand, Bryan (Camalla) Ohrt, Rocky (Konnie Catania) Ohrt, and Jacqueline Sue “Suzzy” Ohrt; Cherished grandmother of 9 and numerous great-grandchildren; Devoted sister of Daphene and was preceded in death by 4 other sisters and 3 brothers. Edith was a U.S. Marine Veteran serving from 1957 – 1960. She was very hard working and had various factory jobs throughout her life, but finally retired in 2009. She will be remembered for having a crazy sense of humor and her ability to find something to laugh about in any situation. She was an avid reader, a passion she passed down to her children. She loved arguing politics and was a bit of a political junkie! She had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In keeping with her wishes, private cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, (T2T.org), 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306 would be appreciated.
