Linda Winkelman, 69, of Monee, passed away Tuesday, November 1st following an extended illness. She was born on April 9, 1953, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Joaquin and Betty Winkelman. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Illinois and settled in the South Suburbs. Linda grew up primarily in the Flossmoor area before relocating to Monee in the 1980’s. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Courtney (Jon) Bovie; Cherished grandson, J.J. Bovie; Devoted sisters, Billie Bergeron and Debra (William) Starkey. She also leaves her loving pet family, Little One and Tiger. Linda was a longtime employee of the US Postal Service, doing multiple jobs including mail delivery, sorting, and working the front desk. She enjoyed many hobbies, especially gardening and paint by numbers. She loved just being with her “gal pals”, watching football, and playing card games. Her secret joy, though, was gaining followers on Twitter! In keeping with her wishes, private cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Gathering to Celebrate her Life will be held on Sunday, November 6th at Skyline Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 24800 S. Governors Highway in Monee, from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Contributions in Linda’s memory may be made to Gift of Hope Community Foundation, 425 Spring Lake Drive, Itasca, IL 60143-2076. Family and friends are encouraged to sign the online guestbook and leave a condolence message at www.midwestmortuary.com Information (708) 534-8256 or (708) 478-3546.
