Elizabeth Snyder unexpectedly passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, in Chicago, Illinois. Born in Zionsville, Indiana, on July 7, 1972, she was the fifth and youngest child of Mike and Carol Snyder.
A graduate of Zionsville Community High School and Marian College (now Marian University) in Indianapolis with a degree in history and an emphasis in writing, Elizabeth was an incredibly creative soul with a passion for the arts and an endless curiosity about science, space, the human existence, and the world at large. Her intelligence (a member of MENSA), compassion, and kindness, as well as her humor, helped her showcase her strengths as a comedian, writer, editor, producer and photographer.
Elizabeth, whose chosen name was Tiley McQuern, was a graduate of The Second City’s writing program and a longtime producer of Chicago Underground Comedy (CHUC) at Beat Kitchen. Among those who worked with Elizabeth in the Chicago acting and comedy communities, many noted how her artistic talents helped bring out their best. Her photography and videos helped many young comedians who now are established headliners. She had comedy videos featured in a showcase at Just For Laughs Chicago. She also had two stand up clips she shot and edited go viral. Her show photography was featured in The Chicago Tribune, Time Out Chicago and The Atlantic.
A wife and a mother, Elizabeth loved her family fiercely and loved sharing some of life’s simple pleasures with Champ. Additionally, she had a heart for all animals—most notably her cats, especially Starfleet Captain Benjamin Lafeyette Sisko, or Sisko for short. His name reflects her love for the TV show Star Trek.
Survived by husband, Bryan Bowden and son, Champ; parents, Mike and Carol Snyder; siblings, Sherrie Snyder-Eberg, Mick Snyder (husband Carlos), Jim Snyder (wife Yuhong and daughter SallyAnne), and Andrew Snyder (husband Paul Hamilton); nephew Michael Snyder III and niece Ali Eberg-Gottschalk (husband Thomas) and their children; Aunt and Uncle Kim and Joe Snyder and their daughter, Aunt Merle Kay Heninger and Uncle Mike Hazelbaker; many cousins named Snyder, Hazelbaker, Harless, Blue, Sufana, Rechters and others; and her loving parents-in-law, Champ Sr. and Jeanette Bowden, and brother-in-law Tom Bowden, his wife Liz and their child.
